To me, being a photographer doesn’t mean showing up at a certain location, snapping a few photos, editing them, and then handing them off to the client. My favorite thing about being a photographer is the people I meet and the connections I make. I love knowing that I am able to capture tiny moments in peoples lives that will be cherished forever. I especially love when a client turns into a friend.
I founded Melissa Dale Photography in 2007. Up until September 2012, I had been juggling a full time career as a Senior Graphic Designer and an increasingly busy career as a photographer. In September 2012, I decided life was too short and that I wanted to work in a profession that made me insanely happy, so I took the leap and quit my full-time job as a graphic designer. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made. I went from having a ‘cubicle job’ to having a beautiful natural light studio near downtown Fargo.
Now that I’ve told you a bit about my career choice, here are some of my favorite things in life. My husband, Jesse. He really is the person God intended for me to love for the rest of my life. I love the color turquoise. I believe Mountain Dew should be one of the five food groups. I am a sucker for a good love story. My grandma is one of my best friends. One of my favorite pastimes is to wander the country looking for old farms to photograph I have a mild obsession with anything vintage. If I had to pick one person to photograph every day for the rest of my life, I would choose my dad.
